Erick Thinks Every Crush Is Either a Tragedy or a Public Service #

According to Erick there are only two kinds of crushes: the tragic ones and the educational ones. No middle category.

Today during lunch he spent twenty minutes analyzing a girl from another class who suddenly “fell in love” with a boy after he started wearing leather jackets and smoking badly near the entrance. “See?” Erick said dramatically. “This isn’t romance. This is branding.” Honestly disgusting that he’s often correct. The thing about Erick is that he understands attraction socially before emotionally. He notices posture changes, voice changes, who suddenly starts caring about appearance after pretending not to. Meanwhile I’m still out here treating emotions like literature.

At one point E. asked him if he believes in true love and he answered: “Of course. I’m gay, not dead.”

Then immediately: “But most of you are just projecting unresolved psychological damage onto symmetrical faces.”

Poetic.

School today felt especially theatrical somehow. Couples arguing quietly in corridors. Girls pretending indifference while checking reflections in windows. Boys acting emotionally unavailable because somebody taught them vulnerability causes national collapse. Exhausting generation honestly.
