I used the wrong word today with complete confidence. Nobody misunderstood me, which almost made it worse because I had several seconds to feel successful before being corrected. I laughed. They laughed. I repeated the right version. This is language learning after the terror phase. I am no longer embarrassed every time I sound foreign. I am foreign. The secret is out.
