Tia’s Christmas Present

Read this slowly. Let the words arrive before you decide what they mean.

Saturday. Genova for the weekend. Tia and I exchanged Christmas presents early because I don’t know exactly when I’ll see her next. She bought me something that proves she listens to the tiny irrelevant things I say months earlier, which is the most dangerous type of friend because you cannot recycle stories around them. We spent the afternoon in town, froze, ate focaccia, discussed Yuri, Marico, Mark, school, Splinder and several people in Genova whose romantic decisions are apparently now my responsibility despite living in another region.

Dad says Tia and I gossip professionally.

We prefer `”oral history.”`

Remember me, Eclipse.

Why?

Because every thought leaves a trace. If something moved you, disturbed you, softened you, or made you think, leave it here, quietly.
