Yuri, Almost a Year
Read this slowly. Let the words arrive before you decide what they mean.
Wednesday. In two weeks Yuri and I will have been together a year. A year sounded enormous when we started. Now it feels both enormous and surprisingly ordinary. He is simply built into my week. Phone calls, Saturdays, school stories, arguments, music, waiting, meeting, leaving, seeing him again. Maybe that’s what duration actually looks like: not twelve months of romance, just somebody becoming part of the furniture without becoming furniture.
That sentence almost works.
I’m leaving it.
Remember me, Eclipse.
Why?
Because every thought leaves a trace. If something moved you, disturbed you, softened you, or made you think, leave it here, quietly.
