One Hour Returned
Sunday. Clocks back. An extra hour. I spent part of it reading blogs written by strangers. Excellent investment. Remember me, Eclipse.
There is a manner in which certain things ask to be written, not so that they may be found, but because to exist in silence, for too long, eventually becomes insufficient. It is not urgency. It is something closer to a necessity that makes no noise, waiting patiently until it discovers the proper form. This archive was born in such a way.
Not as a diary. Not as a blog. Not as something that is updated merely for the sake of appearing alive. It is a place where certain thoughts come to rest, those which do not dissolve, those which return, those which insist with the silent obstinacy of things that truly belong to you...
Sunday. Clocks back. An extra hour. I spent part of it reading blogs written by strangers. Excellent investment. Remember me, Eclipse.
Wednesday. I don’t think the Internet changed overnight, obviously, but Splinder has made me notice the difference between having a homepage and having a weblog in a community of weblogs....
Saturday. Genova. Tia and I walked for almost two hours and she complained that now I’ve moved to Splinder she has to read strangers commenting underneath things she previously considered...
Wednesday. Somebody disagreed with me in the comments and did it intelligently. This is much more dangerous than an idiot. Now I have to think. Remember me, Eclipse.
Saturday. Matrix. Mario Più and Franchino. I think this year has finally converted me from somebody who goes to electronic nights into somebody who has opinions about which electronic nights,...
Sunday. Church. Lunch. Yuri. Tea at five. Four biscuits. Physics. Splinder. Franchino. I have no complaints. Remember me, Eclipse.
Thursday. The dangerous thing about Splinder is not writing. Writing takes however long writing takes. The dangerous thing is everybody else. Somebody comments, so you visit their blog. They link...
Monday. Last first day of school. First tests. Matrix reopened. Erick still fighting for the right to have an ordinary boyfriend. And Eclixar lives on Splinder now. September was busy....
Sunday. People have already commented. This is different. A counter is abstract. A guestbook is something people visit deliberately. Comments sit directly underneath the thing you wrote and answer it....
Saturday. I have spent most of today moving Eclixar to Splinder and the phrase `”moving a weblog”` sounds much simpler than the activity. The old subdomain has years attached to...
Thursday. Registered on Splinder. The new blog is empty. I hate empty pages. I also love them. This is inconvenient. Remember me, Eclipse.
Tuesday. I found Splinder. This may become a problem. It isn’t merely somewhere to put pages. There are weblogs everywhere. People linking to other people, comments, little personal universes sitting...
Why?
Because every thought leaves a trace. If something moved you, disturbed you, softened you, or made you think, leave it here, quietly.
