hello, 2003
I don’t have resolutions. I have a headache, blue nail polish and several things I should probably finish. # I keep writing 2002 by mistake. I did it twice today...
There is a manner in which certain things ask to be written, not so that they may be found, but because to exist in silence, for too long, eventually becomes insufficient. It is not urgency. It is something closer to a necessity that makes no noise, waiting patiently until it discovers the proper form. This archive was born in such a way.
Not as a diary. Not as a blog. Not as something that is updated merely for the sake of appearing alive. It is a place where certain thoughts come to rest, those which do not dissolve, those which return, those which insist with the silent obstinacy of things that truly belong to you...

Yuri is waiting. Hikari says midnight is not going to postpone itself for my weblog. Erick agrees, which is rich coming from somebody who is never on time. There is...
Monday. I keep trying to summarise 2002 and the problem is that all the obvious milestones are only half the story. I turned eighteen. That’s obvious. Hikari got together with...
Sunday. Reading January. I was seventeen, the blog was still on the old subdomain, Hikari was pretending not to like Marico, Erick hadn’t told me about Mark, Splinder was not...
Saturday. Edo and I attempted to make our favourite-music-of-2002 lists tonight. This failed immediately because he objected to my categories and I objected to the concept of ranking things that...
Wednesday. Church, family, presents, lunch extending into a period normally called afternoon, Mom looking beautiful despite having done approximately twelve times more work than everybody else, Dad on the telephone...
Sunday. Mass, shopping with Mom, wrapping things badly and then pretending the irregularity is artistic, tea at five, four biscuits, Yuri later. Dad called. Tia sent a message. Edo sent...
Friday. School finished. Christmas may now begin legally. Remember me, Eclipse.
Wednesday. Everybody is putting Christmas things on their blogs. Some are tasteful. Some have animated snow. Some have so much animated snow that reading the text constitutes winter driving. I...
Saturday. Genova for the weekend. Tia and I exchanged Christmas presents early because I don’t know exactly when I’ll see her next. She bought me something that proves she listens...
Wednesday. Christmas lights everywhere outside. Tests everywhere inside. This juxtaposition feels malicious. Remember me, Eclipse.
Sunday. Church. Lunch. Exhaustion. Tea at five, four biscuits. Yuri called. Hikari called. Edo appeared on MSN demanding to know about last night’s music. Apparently Sunday is customer service. Remember...
Why?
Because every thought leaves a trace. If something moved you, disturbed you, softened you, or made you think, leave it here, quietly.
