# E. Says Christmas Makes Everyone Dramatic

According to E., December is just “November wearing lipstick and lying more.”

Honestly?
Excellent definition.

Today at lunch he spent nearly an hour criticizing Christmas couples with the concentration of an exhausted theatre director. “That boy bought her a giant teddy bear because he has no personality,” he announced while stealing fries from E.’s tray. Then five minutes later: “And she’ll pretend to love it because heterosexuality survives almost entirely through performance.”

People nearby were staring openly at this point.
E. remained completely unbothered.

He wore a dark blue coat today and looked more put together than most adults in Milan. Which probably irritates certain boys in our class on a spiritual level. The entire school already feels infected with Christmas panic.

Girls discussing gifts in whispers like organized crime.
Teachers suddenly pretending kindness before exams destroy everyone emotionally.
Boys becoming strangely attentive because December temporarily reminds them girls have feelings.

Revolutionary concept.

After classes we walked through the center for a while because the streets looked beautiful in that cold expensive Milan way. Lights everywhere. Perfume escaping from department stores every time doors opened. Rich women carrying tiny shopping bags with expressions suggesting profound suffering. Meanwhile E. stopped in front of a jewelry display and said: “Straight men buying gifts always look terrified. Gay men at least understand presentation.”

Probably true.

The strange thing about Christmas is that it makes loneliness more visible without anyone mentioning it directly.
Even beautiful lights can feel cruel sometimes.

DRAMATIC.

Because every thought leaves a trace. If something moved you, disturbed you, softened you, or made you think, leave it here, quietly.
