Sunday in G
The windows were open all day and the apartment smelled entirely like sea air and cigarettes. Which is basically the official perfume of G. Dad spent the morning reading the newspaper in complete silence except for occasional angry noises directed at politics. I don’t even think he expects solutions anymore. I think he just enjoys being disappointed professionally. I made coffee badly and he still drank it without complaining, which honestly counts as affection in this family.
Downstairs somebody played Mina so loudly that half the neighborhood had to emotionally participate again. Then later a Vespa alarm kept screaming for almost twenty minutes while absolutely nobody moved to stop it. Italian civilization is fascinating. I should probably be in M. mentally preparing for school… Instead I’m here watching ferries move through fog while pretending time is slower near the sea.
And maybe it is.
Tomorrow I go back.
Uniforms.
Schedules.
New classrooms.
Artificial lighting.
The yearly performance of pretending teenagers are emotionally stable before 8 AM.
Wonderful.
I already miss this place a little before even leaving it.
BEGINNING.
Remember me,
Eclipse
Why?
Because every thought leaves a trace. If something moved you, disturbed you, softened you, or made you think, leave it here, quietly.
