ricky le roy + franchino
there are nights where the room seems to know something five seconds before you do. #
Matrix tonight. Ricky Le Roy, Franchino. This is what I meant yesterday about a set having somewhere to go. Ricky can wait. That sounds like nothing written down, but in a club patience is almost physical. He lets something build until people start anticipating the change, then waits a little longer, and suddenly the room is paying attention instead of merely dancing. Franchino over that is another thing entirely. I still cannot explain him without making the whole thing sound ridiculous. If I write `”a voice says strange things over the music and everybody loves it”` I sound like I have joined a cult. In the room it makes perfect sense. That’s the annoying thing about trying to write nightlife afterwards: half of what matters doesn’t survive translation. You need the volume and the heat and the people and the fact that it is two in the morning and everybody has stopped behaving like they do at two in the afternoon. Hikari came with Marico. Erick arrived later and was quieter than normal. Mark wasn’t with him. There are still problems with his mother and I could tell immediately he didn’t want the evening turned into a discussion about it, so I didn’t ask. This is something I’m learning: caring about somebody doesn’t give you automatic rights to every detail. Yuri was beside me for most of the night. At one point I realised he was looking at me instead of the DJ and asked what.
`”Nothing.”`
`”You’re staring.”`
`”You look happy.”`
I hate when he wins an argument before there is an argument.
Remember me, Eclipse.
Why?
Because every thought leaves a trace. If something moved you, disturbed you, softened you, or made you think, leave it here, quietly.
